How to style male medium length curly frizzy hair??

Hi,

I have the hair in the title question. I have applied all sorts of things in the past. Most recently, I put on VO5 Freeze Hold. Guess what? All it does it makes my hair slightly more textured and very sticky and shiny. No product seems able to actually BEND my hair in a different direction...NOT even Freeze Hold. I mean, wt...

Any tips?

And if anyone does suggest straightening, do you think it is girly of me to straighten my hair? (I am a 17 year old male).

You should straighten it, I know Loads of men Who straighten their hair and none of them are girly lol.

If not you could try hair mayonnaise for Afro-Caribbean hair, i use it (although i am white) and its very good :)

If you're not already, get your hair cut regularly at a unisex salon, not a men's barbers.

I have similar hair to you and if I leave it too long between cuts it gets even dryer - which means more frizzy. You need to take the dryest ends off every six weeks or so.

Also, ask the hairdresser what s/he would recommend for your hair type, both in terms of hairstyle and styling products. Be prepared to spend a little more on salon styling products, but buy the ones the hairdresser uses on you and watch how s/he uses them, i.e how much and where.

One more thing, try not to blow dry too regularly as (certainly in my case) it will make your hair HUGE. Only blow dry if you are going to straighten afterwards. And if you are going to straighten, use a heat protecting cream to prevent damage (i.e. more frizz) to your hair.

I don't think it is girly i fact it shows that you are more mature are you want to look presentable. If you straighten it I recommend GHD's as they are the easiest to use. Also if you want curly hair you can go to the hairdressers to get them to show you how to use them to curl with. They are expensive but they are worth every penny. I have a pair that are 3 years old. There is nothing wrong with them at all. I use them everyday.

I have frizzy hair and my hair feels more manegable and it is more shiny too. Charles Worthington is good because its helps to get rid of product build up and makes hair stronger.
